Aviyana Private Chalets (Aviyana Ceylon), Sri Lanka’s first ever proposed seven-star hotel project, successfully participated at the recently concluded Dubai Trade Show. Aviyana Ceylon company CEO, Thisara Hewawasam said that their stall at the event drew tremendous investor interest from the Gulf and also by Sri Lankan Diaspora.
‘‘We also signed few MoU’s in this regard with investors. The foreign investments we received through the signed up MoU’s in Dubai will also help to increase FDI to Sri Lanka. These signed up investors are keen to invest with us on a long term basis and will visit the property being development in the Udispattuwa area of Kandy, Sri Lanka soon.’’
He also said that since they hope to open the hotel mid next year the property was extensively marketed among travel agents and the leisure sector as well. “Here again the response was overwhelming.”
The CEO also said that in addition to attracting FDI since their hotel is seven star class they would be able to attract high spending tourists to Sri Lanka and contribute around USD 1 million to the tourism receipts each year. Guests will have the opportunity to experience a natural environment rarely found in other hotels and this will also help to assist the rural community to increase their revenue.Helicopter travel facilities too will also be available for foreign tourists from the Katunayake and Ratmalana airports to the Aviyana Hotel premises for high end travelers.
