In a bid to increase tourism and trade Air China commenced daily flights to Colombo from last week. The Airline will operate flights linking Chengdu with Colombo until March 29, 2025.
Air China earlier operated four weekly flights on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday.
The daily service will provide passengers with greater flexibility and convenience, reaffirming Air China’s commitment to offering comprehensive and reliable flight options.
Air China Limited is the flag carrier airline of China. It is headquartered in Beijing. With over 65, 000 employees the airline offers over 203 both domestic and international flights to different destinations around China and the world to destinations with a fleet size of 500. Meanwhile, the second foreign carrier from China to operate flights to Colombo, China Eastern has increased their flights to double daily from two destinations. The airline will operate a large 737- 800 from Shanghai to Colombo daily and another daily flight from Kunming to Colombo which will also have a stopover in Male after passing Colombo.
China Eastern Airlines has over 80, 000 employees and flies to 223 destinations with a fleet of 639.
Meanwhile it was announced that Azur Air will be commencing their charter operation for the coming winter season 2024/2025 from November 6. It will be in operation until April 2025. Azur Air is a Russian charter airline that flies to leisure destinations in Europe, Asia, Africa and Central America. Azur Air’s fleet includes the Boeing 737-800, 757-200, and 767-300ER.
