Agentic coding is now multiplayer: Introducing Slack Code

AI coding is now a team sport. Code channels bring software development out of private tabs, so teams and agents can write, review, and ship code together, in the open.

Slack has introduced Slack Code, a new way for teams to collaborate with AI agents on software development directly within Slack. As coding agents transform how individuals build software, Slack Code brings development out of private tabs and into a shared workspace where teams and agents can write, review, and ship code together in the open.

Slack Code creates dedicated code channels for specific coding sessions or projects, keeping development work focused and organised. Teams can follow conversations, plans, code differences, and live previews through dedicated tabs, giving everyone visibility into the development process and enabling collaboration throughout each stage of building.

With Slack Code, teams can tag coding agents such as Claude Code, Devin, GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, and Vercel agents to begin tasks. The agent can use existing context, propose solutions, create code, and support teams through feedback and approvals before work is shipped.

Code channels bring developers, product managers, designers, and non-technical teammates into the same shared workspace, making software development a multiplayer activity. Unlike traditional workflows where coding happens in isolated sessions, Slack Code allows teams to build together with agents while maintaining shared context.

Built with Slack’s existing security model, permissions, and admin controls, agents operate securely while humans remain involved in important decisions. Slack Code supports an ecosystem of coding agents including Anthropic’s Claude, Cognition’s Devin, GitHub’s Copilot, OpenAI’s ChatGPT, and Vercel’s agents. It is available across Slack plans and enables teams to transform AI-assisted development into a collaborative experience where people and agents work together to create software faster and more effectively. By bringing conversations, context, and coding workflows into one environment, Slack Code helps teams move from individual AI assistance toward multiplayer development and a more connected way of building software. This approach helps organisations unlock new possibilities through open collaborative AI development.
