Ace Capital CC win Major Clubs under 23 title

Ace Capital Cricket Club emerged champions of the SLC Major Clubs Under 23 Tournament 2024 as they recorded first innings points against Moors Sports Club in the final which ended in a draw recently at Colts Cricket Grounds, Colombo.

Moors SC scored 233 all out with Janishka Perera top scored 92. Ace Capital Cricket Club scored 307 all out in their first innings while the No. 9 batter Sasanka Nirmal struck a match-defining century to turn the game in favoor of Ace Capital Cricket Club. Nirmal hit unbeaten 106 runs off 167 balls with 9 fours and 2 sixes.

Danal Hemananda batting at No. 10, also played a valuable knock worth 70 runs helping Ace Capital Cricket Club take first innings advantage. The duo added vital 166-run stand for the 9th wicket which was the highlight of the game

Janishka Perera and Yesith Rupasinghe grabbed 3 wickets each for Moors Sports Club. With 84 runs behind, Moors Sports Club began their second innings and posted 124 runs for 3 wickets at the close of play .

Sasanka Nirmal was adjudged player of the final while Yesith Rupasinghe was named player of the tournament.Ravishan de Silva of Moors and Vihas Tewmika of Tamil Union won best batsman and best bowlers awards of the tournament.Marlon Fernandopulle the SLC Exco member and NCC Vice President was the chief guest and gave the awards .
