Sri Lanka rupee opens stronger at 300.75/301.00 to US dollar, bond yields up
Sri Lanka’s rupee opened slightly stronger at 300.75/301.00 to the US dollar on Tuesday, dealers said. Bond yields were significantly up, they said, and stocks opened up 0.13 percent.
The rupee closed at 301.50/302.00 against the greenback on Monday.
In the secondary market trading was subdued ahead of the bond auction scheduled for Thursday (12);
A bond maturing on 15.12.2026 was quoted at 11.35/50 percent, up from 11.30/55 percent.
A bond maturing on 01.07.2028 was quoted at 13.00/25 percent, up from 12.90/13.20 percent.
In equities, Colombo’s All Share Price Index opened 13.59 points higher at 10,676, while the S&P SL20 of more liquid stocks opened down at 0.23 percent or 6.87 points to 2,967.
The market turnover was 1.60 million rupees.
