Sri Lanka’s national champions, Ravindu Laksiri and Yeheni Kuruppu, brought home double championships from the 4th Bangladesh Open Squash Championship, held at Independent University Bangladesh in Dhaka. The four-day tournament was organized by the Bangladesh Squash Rackets Federation and featured a prize pool of USD 3,000.
In the men’s final of the Bangabandhu Ispahani Tournament, top-seeded Ravindu Laksiri defeated Kuwait’s Ammar Altamimi with a score of 3-1. The match saw Laksiri excelled with scores of 10-12, 11-9, 11-5, and 11-2, maintaining his unbeaten record as the national champion for the past 11 years.
In the semi-finals, Laksiri triumphed over Iran’s Puya Shafie in straight sets, winning 3-0 with scores of 11-3, 13-11, and 14-12. He also dominated in the quarter-finals against fellow Sri Lankan Viduranga Udayantha, winning 11-2, 11-2, and 11-6.
As the top-seeded player, Laksiri received a bye in the first round. However, Udayantha advanced after defeating seventh-seeded Saleh Altawari of Kuwait with scores of 11-6, 11-5, and 11-8.
This victory marks Ravindu Laksiri’s fifth PSA Challenger title of the year and his seventh overall. Yeheni Kuruppu also claimed the women’s championship.
