78Deputy Minister of Labour Mahinda Jayasinghe stated the process of establishing a special commission to improve salaries and professionalism within Sri Lanka’s public sector has officially begun in line with proposals under the 2026 Budget.
According to the Deputy Minister, the commission is expected to examine and address long-standing concerns surrounding salary disparities and professional development issues that have affected the public sector for decades.
The proposal to establish such a commission was initially announced by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake during the presentation of the 2026 Budget.
