23Sandithi Usgodaarachchi of Musaeus College and Venuli Jayasinghe of Maliyadeva Balika Vidyalaya clinched the Girls Under-16 Doubles title at the 109th National Tennis Championship, which continued at the Sri Lanka Tennis Association courts in Colombo yesterday.
The pair defeated Dulkini Ranasinghe of Visakha Vidyalaya and her partner with a comfortable 6-3, 6-3 victory in the final to secure the championship.
In the Boys Under-16 Doubles, Ananda College’s Damsath Peiris and Risith Somaratne emerged victorious. They overcame the St Peter’s College duo of Ashlin de Silva and Mayroon Kubherane in a thrilling 2-1 battle. The final score was 4-6, 7-5, 7-5.
