Mastercard, a technology leader in the global payments industry, has collaborated with the Computer Society of Sri Lanka (CSSL) as a strategic partner for the 42nd National Information Technology Conference (NITC) 2024.
Scheduled to be held from November 24-26 at the Shangri-La, Colombo, NITC is aimed at advancing professionalism, research, innovation and digital literacy in the country.
Mastercard’s strategic partnership for the event is aligned with the conference’s emphasis on digital transformation and IT innovation. It also highlights the company’s dedication to advancing digital initiatives, particularly in the areas of fintech and digital payments.
The theme for this year’s conference is ‘Catalyzing a Progressive Future: Towards Society 5.0,’ which resonates with the government’s vision and commitment of advancing towards a digital economy.
Showcasing cutting-edge technology-driven solutions, the conference aims to accelerate Sri Lanka’s transition into an inclusive digital economy, with a focus on fintech, edutech, traveltech, InfoSec and e-governance and e-health.
Mastercard connects consumers, financial institutions, merchants, governments and businesses in more than 220 countries and territories and 150 currencies.
The company’s products and solutions make everyday commerce activities, such as shopping, travelling, running a business and managing finances easier, more secure and efficient for everyone. Mastercard has been in Sri Lanka for over three decades and has played a key role in driving the government’s vision of furthering inclusive growth through digitization.
NITC 2024 is organised under the leadership of Dr. Ajantha Atukorale, President of CSSL, with Udesh I.W. Seneviratna, Assistant Secretary of CSSL as the Conference Chair. This year’s conference will host up to 1000 participants, with over 40 distinguished speakers of national and international acclaim.
The NITC 2024 is a multifaceted business conference that spans three days and includes several events, including the inauguration and the CSSL National ICT Awards, the NITC Conference, and the Sri Lanka Digital Investment Summit.
The Computer Society of Sri Lanka (CSSL), which was established in 1976, is the apex body representing Computing professionals in Sri Lanka.
The CSSL is a member of the South East Asia Regional Computer Confederation (SEARCC) and the International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP).
CSSL is a provisional signatory of the Seoul Accord, the international accreditation agreement for professional computing and information technology academic degrees, between the professional bodies in its signatory countries such as Australia, Canada, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong, China, Japan, Korea, the United Kingdom and the United States through which CSSL brings international standards on ICT related degrees to Sri Lanka.
