Kia unveils the all-new 2026 Sportage and Carnival Hybrids in Sri Lanka

Sets new benchmarks in SUV and MPV design, technology and hybrid performance

Kia has marked another milestone in Sri Lanka’s automotive landscape with the unveiling of two all-new models – the 2026 Kia Sportage and the 2026 Kia Carnival Hybrid – at an exclusive media preview at Cinnamon Life, Colombo.

The simultaneous launch of these global automotive icons underscored Kia’s commitment to offer Sri Lankan motorists world-class vehicles that blend design innovation, advanced technology, and sustainable mobility.

Speaking at the event, Kia Motors (Lanka) Chairman Mr Mahen Thambiah said: “Today, we have witnessed a defining moment as we bring not one, but two completely reimagined models to Sri Lanka. The new Sportage Hybrid is ready for every adventure and lifestyle, while the Carnival Hybrid sets new standards for modern family transportation. Both embody Kia’s ‘Movement that Inspires’ philosophy and will redefine expectations in their segments.”

The 2026 Kia Sportage – Ready for Every Adventure

The 2026 Sportage represents the most refined iteration of Kia’s best-selling SUV, with over seven million units sold globally. Developed ground-up to set new standards in the mid-size SUV segment, the Sportage combines a bold new look, cutting-edge hybrid powertrain, and a wealth of technology upgrades.

Externally, the Sportage’s striking silhouette is defined by Kia’s ‘Opposites United’ design philosophy. Smooth surfaces merge with rugged forms, while the distinctive tiger nose grille and LED Star Map lighting create unmistakable presence on the road. New front and rear bumpers, along with 17- and 18-inch alloy wheel options, complete the dynamic stance.

Inside, the cabin offers a luxurious, spacious environment with a new two-spoke steering wheel, minimalist crash pad and hidden air vents. Rear passengers benefit from over one metre of legroom, while cargo space extends to 587 litres – expanding to 1,776 litres with the second row of seats folded.

At the heart of the driving experience is the Connected Car Navigation Cockpit, featuring dual 12.3-inch curved panoramic displays. Wireless Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ integration, Kia Connect services and Feature-on-Demand content – including YouTube and arcade games – make the Sportage one of the most connected SUVs on the road.

Further enhancing the driving experience are a Harman Kardon premium audio system, 360-degree Surround View Monitor with 3D view, wireless charging pad and multi-mode touchpad controls.

Under the bonnet, the 1.6-litre hybrid petrol powertrain delivers dynamic performance and improved fuel efficiency, paired with advanced driver assistance systems that place safety and confidence at the forefront of every journey.

The 2026 Kia Carnival Hybrid – Space, Style and Sustainable Performance

Sharing the spotlight, the all-new 2026 Carnival Hybrid redefines the MPV experience by combining spaciousness and premium comfort with a state-of-the-art hybrid powertrain.

The Carnival’s refreshed exterior styling embraces a bold SUV-like presence. A sculptural grille, cube-like headlamps with signature amber Star Map daytime running lights, crisp rear contours and eye-catching 18-inch alloy wheels create a distinctive and modern look.

Inside, the Carnival continues to offer best-in-class versatility, accommodating seven or eight passengers with up to 145.1 cubic feet of cargo space. The cabin features minimalist design cues, a curved panoramic dual-display with a 12.3-inch digital cluster and infotainment screen, and practical touches such as large dual cupholders.

The Carnival Hybrid pairs a 1.6-litre turbocharged engine with a 54kW electric motor, delivering 242 horsepower, 271 lb-ft of torque, and an estimated 14km/litre fuel efficiency. Unique hybrid features including Electrification-Vehicle Motion Control, E-Handling, E-Ride and E-Evasive Handling Assist further enhance stability and driving confidence.

Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) - including Highway Driving Assist 2 – and next-generation Connected Car Navigation Cockpit technology ensure that the Carnival remains the ultimate vehicle for modern families.

While the Carnival Hybrid boasts ample space, its second-row VIP relaxation lounge seats, part of the 7-seat setup, offer perhaps the most opulent rear-passenger experience on today’s roads.

Notably, the Kia Carnival Hybrid drives with the ease of a high-end SUV, despite its impressive dimensions.
