Huawei has recently announced the successful commercial verification of its sub-1 GHz Massive MIMO technology, which operates on the 700 MHz, 800 MHz, and 900 MHz frequency bands. This development marks a significant improvement in mobile network efficiency, with the new system offering five times the downlink capacity, 8 dB better uplink coverage, and four times faster uplink speeds compared to traditional low-band equipment.
The innovation lies in combining large antenna arrays with wideband technology in the low-band spectrum. This approach allows for better use of fragmented spectrum resources and enhances the overall spectral efficiency. The result is not only wider network coverage but also a more consistent 20 Mbps uplink speed, which is especially beneficial for mobile AI applications.
