Fems Led "Api Katha Karamu" Program Commences Rollout, Empowering Sri Lankan Students

Api Katha Karamu' (Let's Talk), Fems' expansive menstrual health and hygiene education program, officially commenced its nationwide activities on 9th July 2025. The program has already delivered educational sessions to over 3,500 students across 14 schools in the Puttalam and Kurunegala districts. This quick start marks a vital step forward in the program's mission to educate over 180,000 students across Sri Lanka, directly addressing key challenges in menstrual health awareness.

Among the initial schools to benefit from these crucial sessions are Kannangara Maha Vidyalaya – Anamaduwa, Hizbullah Central College – Kurunegala, Holy Angels Girls’ College – Kuliyapitiya, and Ananda College - Puttalam. 

The initiative is being carried out by Fems, in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Red Cross Society, United Communities, and with support from the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education. The "Api Katha Karamu" program is designed to provide comprehensive, age-appropriate information on menstrual health, aiming to empower young women, reduce school absenteeism, and cultivate a more open and supportive environment around menstruation across the nation.
