In celebration of the 50th anniversary of its Chief Executive Officer, Deshamanya Dr. Najeeb Deen’s business journey, DBL Group has donated a newly constructed ward to the Matara General Hospital. Responding to a hospital request, DBL built and handed over a new section for the Women’s Ward, adding capacity for 15 additional patients. The new facility, built at a cost of Rs. 6 million, was officially declared open on September 30, coinciding with Dr. Deen’s birthday.
The new ward has been fully furnished with cupboards, beds, mattresses, bedding, and file storage systems for patient records, all provided by DBL. This latest initiative continues DBL’s ongoing support to the Matara General Hospital. The company has previously donated two overhead bridges, a CCTV system, isolation rooms for COVID-19 patients, nurses’ rest rooms, ward number boards, signboards for clinics, and various medical equipment. The opening ceremony was attended by the hospital’s former and current directors, the deputy director, consultant doctors, hospital staff, and members of the DBL management team, including the Managing Director and General Manager.
