Colombo Stock Market Ends Wednesday in Green; ASPI Up 0.69%


The Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) experienced a positive trading session today (06), with both major indices ending in positive territory. The All Share Price Index (ASPI) rose by 155.47 points (0.69%) to close at 22,739.77. Similarly, the S&P Sri Lanka 20 Index edged up by 31.89 points (0.51%), finishing the day at 6,245.13.

The gain in the ASPI was primarily driven by strong performances from key blue-chip companies. John Keells Holdings PLC (JKH.N) was the day's top positive contributor, adding 10.69 points to the index. Other significant positive contributors included:
     +10.67 points +10.60 points +8.58 points +6.98 points

The market saw active participation with a total equity turnover of Rs. 4.13 billion. Domestic investors remained the dominant force, accounting for 97.3% of the day’s total turnover. Foreign trading activities resulted in a net foreign inflow of Rs. 62.4 million, with foreign purchases totaling Rs. 143.9 million against sales of Rs. 81.5 million.

 

Market turnover was dominated by Citrus Leisure (REEF) with Rs. 415.3 million, and Janashakthi Insurance (JXG) with Rs. 370.6 million.
