CCI to host BuildSL Housing & Construction Expo from May 30

The Chamber of Construction Industry of Sri Lanka, (CCI) held the launch of the premier BuildSL Housing & Construction Expo 2025, on October 4, 2024.

The CCI President, members of the Board of Management and the Council members of the Chamber, longstanding exhibitors at the previous BuildSL Expo’s, last year valued sponsors and Industry leaders participated at the event.

The BuildSL Expo 2025 is due to be held on May 30, 31 & June 1, as the 20th edition at the Sirimavo Bandaranaike Convention Centre, BMICH. The President of CCI Architect, Jayantha Perera in his speech noted that success of the construction industry is the culmination of the successes, of its stakeholders. That is the architects, engineers, and other related professionals, contractors, materials producers & suppliers. for the construction industry.

CCI, CEO/ Secretary General Eng. Nissanka N. Wijeratne stated that the BuildSL 2025 launch is held at a time when the construction industry is emerging from a recession that lasted 4 years from 2020 to 2023. This year during the first 2 quarters the construction industry recorded a growth of 14.2% and 15.5% respectively. With foreign debt restructuring completed under the IMF programme all the donor funded projects that were suspended are due to commence in the near future. With this and the expected increase in tourism & the construction industry is due to rebound in the growth trajectory in the coming months.

“By the time BuildSL 2025 is held there will be a big demand for construction services & materials and the exhibition are bound to have great success.”

Plaques of appreciation were presented to all sponsors of last expo. In addition, pledges of support for the forthcoming Expo were made by the sponsors who have already decided by handing over sponsorship cheques to the CCI President.
