“Over the next few years, digitalization will enable the creation of a more successful and technologically equipped agricultural community in Sri Lanka said Waruna Madawanarachchi, Managing Director of CIC Agri Cluster, at the launch of the CIC Digital Agri Hub Mobile Application at the Galle Face Hotel in Colombo recently.

He said that introduction of smart agriculture will also help to bring back the younger generation who are now shunning away from the industry which is a major concern. New Technology will also help to find solutions to the ‘high price labor’ in the industry which adds additional costs to the agricultural sector.

CIC Agri Cluster launched the much awaited CIC Digital AgriHub mobile application, which is designed to empower Sri Lanka’s agricultural sector. The app aims to enhance productivity and efficiency, contributing to the rapid development of the island’s agricultural economy.

This innovative platform provides farmers with easy access to up-to-date agricultural information, modern technological insights, expert guidance, agro-climatic data, crop calendars, CIC product recommendations, fertilizer packages, cultivation tips, seed and planting material Details and locations of all CIC Sales outlets. The app also offers a wide range of other services designed to support farmers in adopting modern practices.

In the future we will also have a marketing component added to this so that producers would be able to avoid the middle aman ad link up directly with the end seller.

The launch was attended by a group of experts from the agricultural sector, who welcomed the innovation and commended the initiative by CIC and expressed confidence that the app will play a significant role in shaping the future of Sri Lanka’s agricultural landscape.
