established in 1991 to foster closer trade and business relations between the
professional communities of Singapore and Sri Lanka. The SLBA aims to grow a

About the SLSBC:
The Sri Lanka – Singapore Business Council was inaugurated on August 14, 1997,
and was the 18th bilateral Business Council formed under the aegis of the Ceylon
Chamber of Commerce. The foundation for forming the Council was laid in 1994
when the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce entered into a Business Co-operation
Agreement with the Singapore Manufactures’ Association, now known as the
Singapore Confederation of Industries. This change has widened the council’s scope
to extend membership to manufacturing companies and other Chambers of
Commerce.
