XpressJobs signs MoU with Abans to empower the next generation of AC technicians

XpressJobs, Sri Lanka’s leading online recruitment platform, proudly announces the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Abans Learning Centre. This strategic partnership is part of XpressJobs’ Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, aimed at empowering the talent of AC technicians and providing educational and career opportunities.

The MoU was ceremoniously signed at Abance Head Office on June 4, 2024, with the participation of XpressJobs Chief Operating Officer Dr. Oshadie Korale and Abans Group of Companies Group Director Dr. Saroshi Dubash in attendance. The Abans Learning Centre offers a free, one-year comprehensive NVQ

training programme for students, preparing them for a career in air conditioning technology.

The programme, facilitated through XpressJobs, particularly targets candidates from remote areas outside Colombo, leveraging the innovative "CV-less application" service. This feature simplifies the application process for school leavers and skilled labourers who may not have traditional resumes, enabling them to apply directly via mobile devices.

XpressJobs Chief Operating Officer, Dr. Oshadie Korale, commented, "We are proud to extend our commitment with Abans Learning Centre to empower the next generation of AC technicians. XpressJobs can uniquely contribute to this endeavour, as our website is highly popular even in remote areas due to its easy accessibility via mobile phones. Our mobile-first approach ensures that even individuals in the outskirts can easily access and utilise our platform. This programme, therefore, perfectly aligns with our goal of bridging the gap between education and employment by providing accessible and meaningful career opportunities throughout Sri Lanka."

The NVQ Level 3 course offered for free as part of the programme includes six months of each theoretical and practical training session. Each student's education is fully sponsored by Abans, with an investment of 500,000 rupees per student. Following completion, participants will receive a three-year job placement at Abans and an NVQ Level 3 certificate.

This opportunity provides a stable three-year career and the advantage of working with the globally recognised LG brand, ensuring exposure to cutting-edge technology. Graduates will receive a service letter and have the potential to advance to a Level 4 NVQ, with prospects for NVQ 5 qualifications, paving the way towards a bachelor's degree through national vocational training.

"This collaboration with XpressJobs is a testament to our commitment in developing skilled professionals who can meet the demands of the modern job market. We are excited to offer these students the chance to work with the latest technology and gain internationally recognised qualifications, setting them on a path to long-term career success. The key goal is to produce excellent market leaders that can perform excellently as AC technicians," Abans Learning Centre Manager of Group Training & Development, Danuth Illukkumbura, said.

Abans Group of Companies Group Director Dr. Saroshi Dubash added, "We are proud to coagulate these new initiatives, emphasising their importance to the needy children in our nation. Providing these opportunities aligns with our mission to support and uplift the future generation, ensuring they have access to quality education and career development."

XpressJobs recently unveiled a new iteration of its platform on May 10, 2024, featuring a suite of new features to transform the job search experience.

The streamlined interface is optimised for speed, aesthetics, and user-friendliness, ensuring a seamless, mobile-friendly experience.
