World Bank’s Martin Raiser Urges Focus on Jobs, Investment for Sri Lanka’s Recovery
Martin Raiser, the World Bank's Vice President for South Asia, held a meeting with Sri Lankan officials during the 2024 Annual Meetings of the IMF and the World Bank Group in Washington, D.C. Raiser engaged with Central Bank Governor Nandalal Weerasinghe and Treasury Secretary Mahinda Siriwardana, focusing on trade, investment, and fiscal stability as the cornerstones for Sri Lanka’s economic revival.
Raiser emphasized that the recovery should prioritize jobs and equitable development across the nation. The World Bank, alongside the IFC, intends to bolster private sector investments in tourism, renewable energy, and agricultural value chains to drive sustainable growth in Sri Lanka.
