Virtusa, a global provider of digital engineering and technology services and solutions, celebrated the first anniversary of its Reliability Engineering and Observability Guilds recently.
A Community of Practice (CoP) for like-minded professionals within the Company, the Guilds were launched in 2023 with a vision to foster a culture of thriving collaboration in the fields of Reliability Engineering and Observability. With over 200 members and counting, the achievements and results of the Guilds demonstrate the continued realisation of this vision.
“The Guilds are a reflection of Virtusa’s dedication to continuous learning, technical research and development and knowledge-sharing, which has in turn been instrumental in further advancing our capabilities,” Misnad Haque, Senior Principal Architect, SRE and Observabilityat Virtusa commented. “Over the past year, the Guilds have organized numerous Tech Talks, and partnered with our HR Division to host multiple events to encourage collaboration among a broader audience. These initiatives have not only strengthened our ability to maintain robust systems and enhance operational resilience for our clients, but have also helped our members build valuable networks within Virtusa.”
Collectively, Virtusa’s Reliability Engineering and Observability Guilds hosted 34 Tech Talks during this year as well as an exclusive Panel Discussion on AWS re:Invent 2023, which was led by Virtusa’s ownexperts on Amazon Web Services (AWS). The Guilds were also responsible for organizing and executing the AIOps (Artificial Intelligence for IT Operations) Hackathon and the AWS PartyRock Bootcamp – two multi-venue virtual events that were a resounding success. Externally, the Guilds engaged with undergraduate students from universities across Sri Lanka by conducting 10 CSR Training Sessions as well as a hackathon, building capacities and promoting engagement across a broader community.
“Growing at the pace and scale that Virtusa has over the past few years, Guilds such as these become fundamental to nurturing a sense of community among teams that are otherwise confined to their project or geographical location,” commented Indika Wimalasuriya, Senior Systems Engineering Manager, SRE and Observability at Virtusa, who also takes on the responsibility as Coordinator for both Guilds. “Beyond learning and skill development, we have built a connected global community dedicated to collaboration and continuous professional development.”
