Value Masters 2025 Grand Finale Crowns Sri Lanka’s Top Equity Valuation Talent

The Department of Finance, Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, together with the Students’ Association of Finance, successfully concluded the Grand Finale of Value Masters 2025 at the university premises. Organized in collaboration with the CFA Society Sri Lanka and Acuity Knowledge Partners, the event marked another milestone in Sri Lanka’s premier inter-university equity valuation competition.

This contest brought together the island’s brightest young finance minds to present equity valuations of Netflix Inc. before a distinguished panel of industry experts and academics. After a tightly contested final round, Team ValueMinds from the School of Accounting and Business (SAB) – CA Sri Lanka emerged as champions, claiming the prestigious grand trophy. FEValuers and ValuSmiths from the University of Kelaniya secured the first and second runner-up positions, while Equiminds (University of Sri Jayewardenepura) and Volkno (University of Wayamba) completed the top five.

The event was graced by Senior Professor Pathmalal M. Manage, Vice Chancellor of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, as Chief Guest, and Senior Professor D.B.P.H. Dissabandara, Chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka, as Guest of Honour, along with Ms. Rashmi Peiris Paranavitane, CFA, President of CFA Society Sri Lanka, and Nuwan Jayawardana, CFA, Director – Buy-side Investment Research, Acuity Knowledge Partners. They collectively emphasized the value of academia–industry collaboration and the growing importance of investment research in opening lucrative career opportunities globally and strengthening Sri Lanka’s capital markets.

Delivering the welcome address, Dr. Neelangie Nanayakkara, Head of the Department of Finance, described Value Masters as a transformative platform that bridges learning and real-world application.

The distinguished panel of judges comprised Kasun Thanthrimudalige, CFA, Associate Director – Buy-side Investment Research, and Damith Wasantha, CFA, Assistant Director – Sell-side Research & Operations, representing Acuity Knowledge Partners; together with Thilan Sampath, CFA, Country Head – Uzabase Sri Lanka, and Rasanja Perera, CFA, Vice President – CFA Society Sri Lanka and CEO – TWC Capital (Pvt) Ltd., representing CFA Society Sri Lanka.

The finale was attended by Professor D.N. Samudrage, Acting Dean of the Faculty, along with senior academics, industry experts, alumni, and students. In his vote of thanks, Mr. Rusiru Nissanka, President of the Students’ Association of Finance, extended his heartfelt gratitude to all partners, sponsors, and participants for their invaluable support.
