Udeshi Tracks expands portfolio with Shantui, to introduce electric construction machinery

Udeshi Tracks & Equipment (Pvt) Ltd, the authorised dealer for Shantui Construction Machinery in Sri Lanka and the Maldives, has expanded its heavy equipment portfolio with the introduction of the Shantui L55-B5 wheel loader to the Sri Lankan construction sector.

The new machine was formally handed over to the customer by Prasanna Katuwandeniya, General Manager of Udeshi Tracks & Equipment, at a ceremony held to mark its deployment.

The company said the introduction forms part of its broader strategy to provide construction and industrial customers with machinery that delivers greater efficiency, reliability and cost effectiveness.

Looking ahead, Katuwandeniya announced that Udeshi Tracks & Equipment plans to introduce a comprehensive range of electric construction machinery to the Sri Lankan market, responding to changing customer requirements and the industry's growing focus on sustainability and energy efficiency.

He said the company's solutions are being developed with the future needs of customers and the construction industry in mind, particularly as businesses seek to reduce energy consumption and manage rising operating costs.

“This is a supportive solution for future energy saving. Our solutions need to cater to the future needs and requirements of our customers as well as the industry,” Prasanna Katuwandeniya said.

“The forthcoming range of electric construction machinery is expected to reduce operating costs by up to 60% and maintenance expenses by up to 70%, compared with conventional diesel-powered equipment, depending on operating conditions and usage.”

The move comes as Sri Lanka's construction sector increasingly focuses on improving productivity, reducing operating costs and adopting more environmentally sustainable technologies.

Udeshi Tracks & Equipment said the combination of advanced diesel-powered machinery currently available and the planned introduction of electric equipment will strengthen its ability to offer customers a wider range of solutions suited to changing market requirements.

The Shantui L55-B5 wheel loader is the latest addition to the company's portfolio as Udeshi Tracks & Equipment continues to expand its presence in Sri Lanka's construction and heavy equipment market.
