Treinetic partners with CEA to launch innovative Air Quality Monitoring System in Sri Lanka

Treinetic, a leading Sri Lankan software company, has teamed up with the Central Environmental Authority (CEA) to create a new air quality monitoring system. This partnership aims to address air pollution issues by providing real-time data and insights. The project represents a major step forward, supporting efforts to improve sustainability and protect public health across the country. Unlike cities in India like Delhi, which struggle with heavy pollution from vehicles, industry, and crop burning, Sri Lanka generally has better air quality. However, cities like Colombo are seeing increasing pollution from traffic and industry, leading to higher levels of harmful pollutants like particulate matter (PM2.5 and PM10), carbon monoxide (CO), nitrogen dioxide (NO2), and sulfur dioxide (SO2). Seasonal weather changes and limited monitoring infrastructure add to the challenges.

To address these issues, Treinetic has developed an innovative air quality monitoring platform. The system provides real-time data and insights, helping to combat pollution, protect public health, and support sustainable development in Sri Lanka. Treinetic’s platform aims to reduce air pollution by providing actionable data. In the future, it could expand to monitor other environmental aspects, like water quality and waste management, creating a more comprehensive approach to environmental protection and sustainability. "The health of our people and our environment is shaped by air quality. With the right information, we can take steps to make the air cleaner and protect Sri Lanka’s future” said Imal Perera, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Treinetic.
