TEDxColombo: Unlocking the Fractured Paradox

TEDxColombo, one of the most prominent and long-standing TEDx events in Sri Lanka, proudly announces the 14th edition of its flagship event, scheduled for Sunday, November 29th, 2026, at the iconic Temple Trees. Known for pushing boundaries and sparking dialogue, TEDxColombo 2026 promises another unforgettable day of insight, inspiration, and bold new ideas - brought to you by a carefully curated lineup of speakers that truly embody this year’s theme - challenging the way we see the world, one ‘mad’ idea at a time.

Since its inception in 2009, TEDxColombo has remained dedicated to spotlighting powerful local voices and homegrown stories that resonate far beyond our shores. Talks from previous editions have reached global audiences through the TED platform, sparking meaningful conversations and even shifting perspectives in communities around the world. In its sixteenth year, TEDxColombo invites us all to look at the world through a different lens.

Under this year's theme, "The Fractured Paradox," explores how, with today’s world doused heavily under the questioning gaze of what’s real and what isn’t, Artificial Intelligence becomes mankind’s technological corn syrup, making it inevitable that fractures are everywhere. In our personal lives. In our communities. In the systems we trust. In the identities we carry. Yet within those fractures often lies growth, change, perspective, and possibility. Through a carefully curated selection of powerful speakers, change makers, and transformative experiences, TEDxColombo 2026 aims to challenge assumptions, as always, spark dialogue, and take it a step further into reality, reminding us that even in contrast, there can be connection.

Safra Anver, the Organizer for TEDxColombo, expressed her excitement about the upcoming event, stating,  “Progress rarely arrives as a smooth line; it emerges through the cracks of a fractured consensus. We are gathering the thinkers, builders, and dissenters who stand at the fault lines of what is and what could be. Here, we celebrate the ideas that split the room today so they can shape the foundation of tomorrow. Step into the rift where opposing realities meet, disrupt, and redefine what comes next. Welcome to the edge of the paradox.”

The event promises an immersive day filled with live talks from a diverse group of speakers, carefully selected TED Talk screenings, and vibrant social spaces that encourage meaningful connections among attendees. With an in-person audience of over 1,000 expected and thousands more engaging online, TEDxColombo continues to be a gathering point for curious minds, bold thinkers, and passionate changemakers.

John Keells IT returns as the Main Partner of TEDxColombo 2026, marking 10 years of partnership with TEDxColombo since the relationship began in 2016.

“Bold ideas deserve a stage. Meaningful change demands action. At John Keells IT, we believe progress begins when people have the courage to question what is, imagine what could be, and turn that possibility into action. TEDxColombo brings that spirit to life, amplifying Sri Lankan voices, connecting fresh perspectives, and challenging us to think beyond familiar boundaries. We are proud to renew our support for a platform that inspires people to shape the future. Think bold. Act brave. Inspire change,” said Dr. Ramesh Shanmuganathan, CEO of John Keells IT.
