Sun Siyam Pasikudah General Manager Arshad Refai appointed as President of East Coast Hotels Association

Mr. Arshad Refai, General Manager of Sun Siyam Pasikudah Hotel, was recently appointed as the President of the East Coast Hotels Association of Sri Lanka. This was during a special meeting held at the Sun Siyam Pasikudah Hotel premises on April 10.

The main objectives of the East Coast Hotels Association are to promote the Pasikudah coastline as a leading tourist destination in Sri Lanka, improve coordination among member hotels, and build an action group for the promotion of tourism in the eastern region. In addition to Mr. Arshad Refai’s appointment, other officers of the association also received appointments at the event.

Addressing the members after being appointed as the new President of the association, Mr. Refai stated that it is his aspiration to develop Pasikudah and the surrounding area into a leading tourist destination in Sri Lanka. He also mentioned the important place that sustainability has and emphasized on waste minimization and energy conservation.

"This alliance will give us more strength. The Pasikudah area has a unique natural beauty, warm hospitality and great potential. Through this alliance, we will have the opportunity to increase the tourist attraction of the Pasikudah area and provide tourists with a type of tourism experience that they want to experience again and again. Responsible tourism is the future of our industry," said Arshad Refai.

For a long time, the southern and western coasts of Sri Lanka have been the center of beach attraction. However, the tourist attraction of the eastern coast is currently increasing rapidly. The tranquility and natural beauty of the Pasikudah beach are the main reasons for that attraction. In such a context, the East Coast Hotel Association will be able to further increase the attention to the area.
