Sri Lanka Women beat West Indies in first T20I

Sri Lanka Women beat West Indies Women by 04 wickets in the first T20I of the three-match series being played at Mahinda Rajapakse International Cricket Stadium in Hambantota.

Having won the toss, Sri Lanka’s skipper Chamari Athapaththu opted to bowl first, where they restricted West Indies Women to 134 for the fall of 8 wickets at the end of 20 overs.

Hayley Matthews hit 30 in partnership with Aaliyah Alleyne, who scored 26 in 22 deliveries for West Indies. 

Veteran Chamari Athapaththu picked up 4 wickets for just 29 runs. Inoshi Priyadharshani took 3 wickets while Ama Kanchana bagged one wicket for the Sri Lankans.

Chasing the total set by West Indies Women, both Harshitha Samarawickrama and Vishmi Gunaratne smashed 35 each, helping Sri Lanka to score 137/6 at the end of 18.4 overs.
