Sri Lanka’s unemployment rate rose to 4% in the second quarter of 2026, according to the Department of Census and Statistics.

An estimated 340,240 people were unemployed during the quarter. The unemployment rate was 6.1% among women and 2.8% among men.

The highest unemployment rate was recorded among those aged 15–24.
