25The first meeting of the BIMSTEC Expert Committee on Fiscal and Monetary Policy was held in Sri Lanka to discuss fiscal and monetary policy cooperation among member countries.
The committee was proposed by Sri Lanka’s Minister of Foreign Affairs in February 2024 and approved by all BIMSTEC members to facilitate exchange of expertise on policy formulation and implementation.
The Cabinet approved Sri Lanka hosting the inaugural meeting, coordinated through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Overseas Employment and Tourism, to prepare the committee’s terms of reference and action plan.
