Sri Lanka ended their short international football tour of the Seychelles on a high note by securing a comfortable 2-0 victory on Wednesday, 30 September. Playing at the Stade Linite in Victoria, the visiting Sri Lankan side controlled the game from start to finish to complete a sweep of their two-match friendly series against the home team.
The match began with Sri Lanka taking control of the midfield early in the first half. Their efforts paid off in the 32nd minute when winger Dillon De Silva scored the opening goal with a precise strike. Seychelles tried to bounce back in the second half and pushed forward to look for an equaliser, but Sri Lanka remained organised in defence and protected their lead. As the game entered its final minutes, veteran midfielder Waseem Razeek put the match completely out of reach by scoring a second goal in the 84th minute to lock in the 2-0 win.
Sri Lanka had overall control of the game and held fifty-five percent of the ball possession compared to forty-five percent for Seychelles. Both teams managed eight total shots each with four on target, but Sri Lanka made the most of their chances while Seychelles failed to break through.
This final victory followed an equally impressive performance in the first game of the series on 27 September at the same venue. In that opening match, Sri Lanka dominated Seychelles with a convincing three to zero victory. Forward Adhavan Rajamohan was the star of the night, scoring twice with goals in the 45th and 53rd minutes. Dillon De Silva then added a third goal in the 77th minute to finish off a dominant performance.
Across the two friendly matches, Sri Lanka scored five total goals while keeping two clean sheets and allowing zero goals. The successful tour provides a significant boost of confidence for the Sri Lankan national team as they continue their preparations for upcoming regional tournaments under their national football development plan.
