The Surfing Federation of Sri Lanka (SFSL) took a huge step in their attempt to transform the country into a world-class water sports hub by successfully conducting the 2025 National Surfing Championships at the Hikkaduwa Main Point.

This year’s Nationals had a great amount of significance as it served as a trial to select the Sri Lanka Squad for the 2026 Asian Games, which will be held in Japan in August.
The SFSL has also joined hands with the Ministry of Sports and they are jointly set to organise several international-level surfing competitions in 2026 with the aim of promoting sports tourism.
Two young surfers, who demonstrated exceptional talent during this meet, will be provided with a full sponsorship for international training programs and for upcoming international events. (C.D)
