SLIIT Wins Two BestWeb.LK Honours for Its Higher Education Website

Choosing a university often begins long before a campus visit. A prospective student may first compare programmes, explore study pathways and look for a sense of campus life, all through a website and often on a mobile phone. SLIIT’s website has now earned two national honours for that experience.

At the BestWeb.LK 2026 Awards, SLIIT won Gold for Best University & Higher Education Institute Website and was named Best Mobile User Experience Website in the same category. The dual recognition places its website among Sri Lanka’s strongest digital platforms in higher education.

Organised by the LK Domain Registry, BestWeb.LK evaluates websites across technical quality, performance, design, content and security. Its criteria examine practical details that shape a visitor’s experience, from navigation and accessibility to responsive design, loading performance and the quality of information available. The mobile award gives particular weight to how well a site serves people using smaller screens.

For a higher education institution, these qualities have a direct purpose. Students and families need to find reliable information, understand their options and take the next step with confidence. SLIIT’s website brings its programmes, study pathways, research, student life and institutional information into one digital space. Its programme finder allows visitors to explore courses by factors including study area, qualification and location.

The Gold award recognises the strength of the website as a whole, while the mobile user experience award highlights the importance of access wherever a visitor happens to be. Together, they reflect a broader expectation of universities today: the quality of the digital experience should match the care given to the experience on campus.

For SLIIT, the recognition is an achievement in web design and a reminder that a university’s first interaction with a future student may happen through a screen. Making that interaction clear, useful and accessible can help turn an initial search into an informed decision about the future.
