SLIIT secures the top-spot as the Most Loved Brand in the Higher Education (Private) category in the LMD Readers’ Choice Most Loved Brands 2026 ranking, reaffirming its strong standing among Sri Lanka’s leading education brands.
The recognition does more than cement SLIIT’s identity as an industry leader in higher education, it places SLIIT among the country’s preferred brands, and reflects the trust, familiarity and positive brand affinity it has built over the years. In a sector where credibility, academic quality and graduate outcomes are central to building public confidence, this recognition marks an important milestone.
This recognition affirms SLIIT’s commitment to building a secure, excellence-focused environment where students and faculty thrive. The 98% employment rate of SLIIT graduates reflects the impact of higher education in shaping Sri Lanka’s future talent pipeline. Students and parents today seek institutions that offer not only academic qualifications, but also industry relevance, global exposure, employability and a learning environment that supports long-term personal and professional growth.
SLIIT’s focus on quality teaching, research, innovation, industry engagement, and student-centred learning has helped establish the institute as a trusted choice for students preparing to enter an increasingly competitive work force. Forging industry partnerships, launching the first degree in Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the country and embedding AI as a cross-cutting competency across all degree programmes are pioneering measures SLIIT engages for the benefit of its students.
Yet another trust-affirming feature of SLIIT is the culture of excellence it fosters. Students are exposed to world-class education from faculty comprising distinguished industry practitioners and research experts, including six Stanford–Elsevier listed scientists recognised among the world's top two percent in their respective fields. This depth of expertise ensures that students are supported by academics who are not only leaders in their disciplines, but active contributors to the advancement of knowledge globally.
Professor Lalith Gamage, Vice Chancellor and CEO, SLIIT, said, “Being recognised as the Most Loved Brand in the Higher Education (Private) category is a meaningful honour for SLIIT, because it reflects the confidence placed in us by a discerning readership. Higher education is one of the most important decisions a student and their family can make, and this recognition encourages us to continue strengthening academic excellence, industry relevance, global partnerships and the overall student experience. At SLIIT, our commitment is to prepare graduates who are not only qualified, but also capable, adaptable and ready to contribute meaningfully to Sri Lanka and the wider world.”
The recognition also reflects the strength of the wider SLIIT community, including around 25,000 students, over 40,000 alumni, approximately 1000 academic and administrative staff, parents, industry partners and institutional collaborators who have contributed to the institute’s journey and reputation.
SLIIT extends its appreciation to LMD readers and all stakeholders who continue to place their trust in the institution. As Sri Lanka’s higher education landscape continues to evolve, SLIIT remains committed to advancing quality education, empowering young people and contributing to the country’s knowledge economy through innovation, excellence and meaningful impact.
