As technology and changing business needs reshape logistics and supply chain management, students need opportunities to engage with the professionals navigating these developments. Dockfest 2026, organised by the Logistics Club of SLIIT Business School, under the guidance of Prof. Renuka Herath who is the staff advisor of SLIIT Logistics Club, brought students, academics, and industry leaders together to explore the sector’s future under the theme “Beyond Boundaries, Toward Tomorrow.”
Held on 1 October 2026, the event connected academic learning with industry practice, creating a platform for knowledge sharing, professional development, and collaboration. Students gained exposure to contemporary industry perspectives while considering how innovation can help address real-world business challenges.
A central feature was the panel discussion, which brought together expertise from logistics, aviation, operations, and academia. The panel comprised Prof. H. R. Pasindu, President of CILT Sri Lanka and Professor of Civil Engineering at the University of Moratuwa; Ms. Roshani Masakorala, Airport Manager, Global Airports Operations, Etihad Airways; Mr. Dharshana Wijemanne, Director and CEO of Advantis 3PL; and Mrs. Amali Mudunkotuwa Mendis, General Manager of Operations at Regency Teas.
Drawing on their diverse professional experience, the panellists explored emerging trends, industry challenges, technological advancements, and future opportunities in logistics and supply chain management. The discussion encouraged students to look beyond classroom concepts and consider the evolving demands of careers across these interconnected fields.
Dockfest 2026 also featured Dockyard, the second edition of the Logistics Magazine of SLIIT Business School. Bringing together contributions from students and industry professionals, the magazine provides a platform to share knowledge, experiences, and perspectives on contemporary developments in the sector. Its inclusion reinforced the event’s emphasis on exchanging ideas and strengthening connections between academia and industry.
Commenting on the initiative, Thakshila Samarakkody, Lecturer at SLIIT Business School and Advisory Panel Member of the Logistics Club, said, “Dockfest is more than an event; it is a platform for inspiring the next generation of logistics and supply chain professionals to think beyond conventional boundaries and embrace the possibilities of tomorrow. At SLIIT Business School, we believe that innovation flourishes when academic knowledge, industry experience, and student creativity come together. Through Dockfest, we aim to create meaningful connections, encourage forward-thinking ideas, and empower our students to become adaptable, innovative, and responsible professionals who can contribute to the future of the industry.”
By combining industry dialogue with opportunities for students to share their perspectives, Dockfest 2026 reflected SLIIT’s commitment to innovation and industry engagement. The event encouraged students to think critically, explore technological developments, and connect their learning with the challenges and opportunities they will encounter in professional practice.
