Sri Lanka tourism on its way to record over 2 million arrivals passed the 1.65 million mark (1,651,335) on November 6. A tourist arrival from November 1 to 5, 2024 totaled 30,620 and was set to pass another month on 150, 000 plus arrivals. It was also pleasing to note that daily arrivals have increased to around 6,000 per day.
Once again India remained as the best tourism market for Sri Lanka with 7,785 arrivals while Russian (4,488) was second and Germany (2,752) and United Kingdom (1,821) was at third and fourth in the month of November. Meanwhile, Sri Lanka’s biggest ever country pavilion with 105 tour and travel companies and hoteliers representing Sri Lanka this year at the World Travel Mart (WTM), the largest contingent to date, was declared open on November 5, 2024 at ExCel London by Emma Manners, Duchess of Rutland under the theme of “You Will Come Back for More”.
She was joined by Royal Highness Princess Katarina of Yugoslavia, The Rt Hon Lord Naseby, The Lord Marland Chairman of the Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council and other members from London and senior officials of Sri Lanka Tourism. (SS)
