Siyarata Traditional Hospital in Pallekele celebrates 25 years of excellence

Siyarata Traditional Hospital in Pallekele, Kandy, led by renowned traditional medicine practitioner Ranjan Muhandiram, will proudly celebrate its 25th anniversary in January, 2025. This milestone reaffirms the hospital’s dedication to preserving and advancing the age-old practices and providing exceptional patient care. Dr. Muhandiram hails from a lineage rooted in traditional medicine, with a history spanning over 1,000 years. His father’s family, tracing its roots back to ancient times, is renowned for its expertise in universal medicine, while his mother’s lineage, the Galagama family, is known for its knowledge of treatments for various ailments, particularly poison remedies and eye medicine. By blending these two rich traditions, he founded Siyarata Traditional Hospital in 2000, creating a space where ancient wisdom meets modern healthcare.

The hospital specialises in treating a wide range of diseases, offering remedies for conditions from head to toe. All medicines used at the hospital are developed based on the family’s unique prescriptions. Their pharmaceutical factory, located in the Pallekele Industrial Park, has been producing these traditional medicines since 2000. However, Dr. Muhandiram has been treating patients for many years before establishing the hospital and the factory. Over the past decades, Siyarata Traditional Hospital and pharmaceutical factory have received numerous awards, including the prestigious 'Suva Seva' Best Service Provider Gold Award in 2023 and the Best Entrepreneur Award at a President’s Awards Ceremony in the same year. It has also been recognised by the Central Provincial Department of Ayurveda, adding to a collection of more than 100 local and international awards, state honours, and certificates. Both the hospital and the factory have also received several local and international quality certifications.
