Sri Lanka swimmer Ganga Senevirathne won her heat in the women’s 100 metres backstroke with a feat of 64.26 seconds at the Paris Olympic Swimming Championship on Monday.
Competing in the slowest heat she won ahead of Denise Donelli of Mozambique and Aynura Primova of Turkmenistan who were placed second and third respectively.
Overall the 21 year old was ranked 30th among the 36 swimmers who competed for semi-final places. Her performance was not enough to secure a semi-final place.
