Samaposha marks a decade of supporting the Provincial School Games

Samaposha, Sri Lanka's leading nutritional cereal brand, continues its support for the Provincial School Games as title sponsor for the 10th consecutive year, reaffirming its long-standing commitment to nurturing young sporting talent while promoting healthier, more active lifestyles among Sri Lankan children.

Organised by the Provincial Education Departments, the 2026 Games will commence on 21 July across seven provinces—Western, North Central, North Western, Eastern, Uva, Southern and Sabaragamuwa. More than 35,000 athletes from over 3,500 schools are expected to compete in 70 sporting events, with winning schools and athletes receiving trophies, certificates and medals presented by the Provincial Education Departments.

The 2026 Games are scheduled to take place in the respective provinces and venues according to the following schedule: North Central Province from 21 to 24 July at the Public Ground, Anuradhapura, Uva Province, 31 July to 04 August at the Vincent Dias Stadium, Badulla. For the Southern Province from 04 to 07 August at the Sports Complex Dadalla, Galle and for the North Western Province from 08 to 11 September at the Albert F Peiris Stadium, Wennappuwa.

For the Western Province from 07 to 10 September at the Mahinda Rajapaksa Stadium, Diyagama and in the Eastern Province from 9 to 13 September at the Weber Stadium, Batticaloa. The final games will be held in the Sabaragamuwa Province from 11 to 15 September at the Mahaweli Public Ground, Embilipitiya

The Provincial School Games are a key initiative under Samaposha's 'Dinana Daruwo' platform, the brand's long-term child development initiative that aims to nurture a generation of children who excel in nutrition, sports, education, creativity, leadership and character. Built on the belief that every winning child begins with proper nutrition, healthy habits and the opportunity to perform, 'Dinana Daruwo' reflects Samaposha's commitment to empowering children to become confident, disciplined and well-rounded individuals who contribute meaningfully to the nation's future.

Commenting on the initiative, Manjula Dahanayake, Director / CEO, CBL Food Cluster, said:

"At CBL, we believe that today's children are tomorrow's leaders. Through Samaposha's 'Dinana Daruwo' platform, we are committed to nurturing a generation of children who are not only well nourished but also active, confident and equipped with the leadership qualities needed for the future. Sports play a vital role in developing discipline, teamwork, resilience, confidence and character. Our continued partnership with the Provincial School Games reflects our long-term commitment to empowering young Sri Lankans with opportunities to excel both on and off the field. This commitment is further strengthened through 'Govi Paula,' CBL Group backward integration programme, which partners with over 28,000 Sri Lankan farming families to source locally grown grains. By supporting local agriculture while providing nutritious products, we create sustainable value for both farming communities and future generations."

Through its continued investment in grassroots sports and close collaboration with the Provincial Education Departments, Samaposha has created opportunities for thousands of young athletes to discover their potential, compete at the highest provincial level and develop the discipline, resilience, teamwork and confidence that sport inspires.

The Director, Physical Education and Sports, Ministry of Education, R.M. Krishan Duminda, said:

"We appreciate the immense support provided by CBL Samaposha over the past ten years in developing the skills of school children, promoting their physical and mental wellbeing, and providing them with the necessary foundation to elevate their talents to the national level."
