PayMedia appoints tech visionary Dhammika Dasa as COO to drive operational excellence and strategic growth

In a strategic move to fortify its leadership and accelerate its growth trajectory, PayMedia (Pvt) Ltd, a multi-award-winning leader in the fintech industry, has announced the appointment of Mr. Dhammika Dasa as its new Chief Operating Officer (COO), effective from November 18, 2025. With over 27 years of broad-based experience across the IT and financial sectors in Sri Lanka, Australia, and New Zealand, Mr. Dhammika Dasa brings a wealth of expertise in Strategic & Business Planning, Project Management, Staff Management, Training & Development, IT Governance, Information Security Implementation, Budget Planning and digital transformation. His arrival marks a new chapter for PayMedia as the company leverages his deep industry knowledge to refine its operational architecture and scale its cutting-edge fintech solutions for an increasingly digital-first global economy.

Prior to joining PayMedia, Mr. Dhammika Dasa served as the Chief Information Officer (CIO) at People’s Bank, where he played a pivotal role in leading one of the institution’s most significant digital transformation initiatives. During his tenure, he was responsible for the entire ICT function of the bank, overseeing and refining digital strategies to ensure alignment with industry best practices and competitiveness with leading commercial banks, and the successful execution of large-scale system revamping and core modernization projects, leaving a strong and lasting impact on the bank’s digital capabilities.

His extensive career also includes a successful tenure as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of KPMG Technologies, where he led large-scale Oracle ERP implementations and played a pivotal role in earning the organization the prestigious “Oracle Partner of the Year – SaaS Applications” award in 2018. Additionally, Mr. Dhammika Dasa served as General Manager – Group Information Technology at Aitken Spence PLC, where he led and managed a team of IT professionals responsible for delivering enterprise-wide information and communication technology services. His remit encompassed application development and implementations, network and communications management, data center operations, hardware and infrastructure management, system security etc.

As the new Chief Operating Officer (COO) of PayMedia, Mr. Dhammika Dasa will be responsible for translating the company's visionary goals into functional reality by overseeing daily operations and ensuring seamless inter-departmental alignment. His role involves optimizing internal processes, managing vendor relations, and leveraging his deep expertise in information security to maintain PayMedia's commitment to global quality and PCI DSS standards. By bridging the gap between strategic vision and day-to-day execution, Mr. Dhammika Dasa is poised to drive operational excellence across PayMedia's growing team of nearly 180 professionals, ensuring the company remains at the forefront of financial technology innovation.
