Osanda, Yoshini Most Outstanding

Osanda Upekshana of Vidyartha College and Yoshini Jayawardena of Mahamaya Girls School emerged open men’s and women’s champions at the Central Province Open ranking Table Tennis Championship played at Municipality Indoor Stadium over the weekend.

Osanda defeated his school mate Dhsrshana Babarandage at the men’s single final with two straight sets 11-5,11-8.

Yoshini clichéd the women’s title defeating Girls High school paddler Ranumi Patabandi 11-7,11-6 in the final. In addition Yoshini also clinched both girls’ under 15 and under 17 titles while Osanda won the boys’ under 15 title defeating the same opponent of open men’s final.

However under 17 title was won by Vinu Dinsara of Poramadulla Central and he was able to defeat mens open champion Osanda in the final 11-7,11-5.

Meanwhile under 13 boys’ and girls’ titles were won by M.H Bilal of St Anthony’s Kandy and Ameesha Kavindi of Viharamahadevi Girls School Kandy.

Gavindu Nethmina of Dharmaraja and Viduni Charana of Haguranketha Central won the boys’ and girls’ under 7 titles while Hassan Zaman of Springfield College Kandy and Hirudya Abeykoon of Girls High School won the boys and girls under 9 titles. Boys and girls under 11 finals were won by Kalana Nilupul of Kingswood and Aveesha Herath of St Anthony’s Girls school Kandy.

Meanwhile the under 15 doubles event (boys) was won by Osanda Upekshana and Venura Abeyweera and girls doubles was won by Shiny Arnolda (Good Shepard Convent Kandy) and Tashmi Ketakumburage of Girls High School Kandy.

Yoshini Jayawardena of Mahamaya and Osanda Upekshana of Vidyartha were adjudged Most Outstanding Paddlers of this tournament which conducted by Table Tennis Academy Kandy.
