Now delivering: Uber Eats expands to Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka’s ancient sacred city

Uber Eats, the country’s most loved delivery app for ordering food, groceries, and more, is now available in Anuradhapura. With this expansion, residents of one of Sri Lanka’s most historic and culturally significant cities can now enjoy the ease of ordering meals, everyday essentials, and more, delivered right to their doorstep.

Anuradhapura is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the ancient capital city of Sri Lanka. Home to ancient pilgrimage sites, the sacred Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi tree, ruins of the ancient Sinhala civilization, and centuries of Buddhist heritage, Anuradhapura continues to be a place where tradition and modern daily life go hand in hand. With the arrival of Uber Eats, locals and tourists alike get access to a wide range of categories—whether it’s ordering a quick snack, getting dinner delivered for the family, or ordering ingredients for a home-cooked meal from neighborhood stores. Popular local favourites like the Chamee Group of Restaurants; Alankulama Group of Restaurants; My Burger; Hotel Singha Kanuwa; and Rasa Gedara are now just a few taps away—bringing trusted local flavours onto the Uber Eats app for the first time.

As part of the launch, Uber Eats has partnered with the local government for this year’s Vesak celebrations in Anuradhapura. The company is supporting enhancements around the Kubichchankulama lake area, installing directional signage across key pilgrimage sites, and helping organize community events—including a national Pandol competition, cultural performances by local schools, and an open-air LED film screening—to enhance the experience for thousands of residents and visitors during this important cultural occasion.

With the latest expansion, Uber Eats further solidifies its position as Sri Lanka’s go-to delivery platform, connecting locals and tourists with the best the island nation has to offer. In February, Uber Eats expanded to Matara, Weligama, and Mirissa, strengthening its footprint along the Southern Coast after adding Koggala, Talpe, and Ahangama in December 2024. In March 2025, the service was also extended to Veyangoda and Nittambuwa, expanding coverage across the Colombo–Gampaha districts. Uber Eats is now available in Anuradhapura, Galle, Unawatuna, Koggala, Talpe, Ahangama, Matara, Weligama, Mirissa, Veyangoda, and Nittambuwa—supporting communities across Sri Lanka with fast, reliable delivery and new opportunities for local businesses.
