With the participation of High Commissioner of Malaysia to Sri Lanka Badli Hisham Adam, as Chief Guest, the Management & Science Institute (MSI), Sri Lanka, an offshore campus of Management and Science University (MSU), Malaysia, celebrated the Sinhala and Tamil New Year 2026, bringing together diplomats, academics, alumni, and students in this year’s Awurudu celebrations.
The event encouraged current MSI students to showcase traditional Avurudu games, dances, and other cultural rituals before a multicultural audience, highlighting students’ talents while promoting unity, emotional maturity, respect, and fairness among those who participated in the Avurudu celebrations.
Notably, the presence of His Excellency underscored the longstanding diplomatic relationship between Sri Lanka and Malaysia and provided a unique and enriching experience for the students and alumni of MSI and MSU.
Delivering a special message, Professor Mohamed Shukri Ab Yajid, President of MSU and MSI, emphasised the significance of cultural unity and academic excellence in producing well-balanced graduates for society.
In his message, the President further noted that such celebrations reflect “the richness of culture, unity in diversity, and the values that shape not only great nations but also great institutions,” while expressing his appreciation for His Excellency’s presence as Chief Guest.
