Maldivian President to receive state welcome in Sri Lanka today

Maldivian President Mohamed Muizzu arrived in Sri Lanka yesterday (03) for a three-day official visit, with the ceremonial welcome scheduled for today (4) at the Presidential Secretariat. 

The event will kick off with a formal state reception, followed by a joint media statement from both leaders.

During his stay, President Muizzu will hold bilateral talks with Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake to strengthen diplomatic and economic ties. Several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) are also expected to be signed, reflecting a shared commitment to expanding cooperation across various sectors.

This visit marks President Muizzu’s first trip to Sri Lanka since taking office in 2023, and he will remain in the country until 6 May, 2026. 

Authorities have announced a special traffic plan in Colombo to facilitate the visit.
