Lankan duo battle for wheelchair tennis title

Suresh Dharmasena and Gamini Dissanayake of Sri Lanka have made a remarkable impact at the ITF Uniqlo Wheelchair Tennis Tour, both advancing to the Men’s Singles final at the Sri Lanka Open, held at the SLTA Clay Courts yesterday.

Dharmasena, the Negombo and Colombo Open champion, continued his excellent form with a solid win in the semi-finals.

He defeated Korea’s Song Ho Oh 6-3, 6-3. Dissanayake also showcased his strength by beating Song Bong Hun of Korea 6-3, 6-2 in his semi-final.

Both players have been in top form throughout the tournament, with Dharmasena aiming to extend his dominance, having already won two major titles this month. Dissanayake, on the other hand, will be looking for his first major title on home soil.

The final, set to take place today, will feature an exciting all-Sri Lankan match between Dharmasena and Dissanayake, bringing the tournament to a thrilling climax.
