Kaspersky is announcing the expansion of its Kaspersky Kids Cyber Resilience Project to Vietnam, in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region, and is launching it in the Middle East and CIS countries. This initiative is designed to equip children and teenagers with essential cybersecurity skills, fostering a safer digital experience for the younger generation in an increasingly interconnected world.
The Kaspersky Kids Cyber Resilience Project focuses on raising awareness among children, parents, educators, and NGOs about online threats. It also stresses the importance of digital hygiene, practical ways to enhance online security, and enjoy technology. Through interactive workshops, online courses, and other activities, the program encourages responsible digital behavior, helping kids develop the resilience needed to navigate the internet safely. Launched in Singapore in March 2023, the initiative has successfully run in a number of other countries in APAC — the Philippines, Malaysia, and India — to date.
Now, the company is broadening its collaborations in the region further by partnering with the Vietnet Information Technology and Communication Center (VIETNET-ICT) and the Thai Nguyen Department of Education and Training of Vietnam to conduct a specialized Cyber Resilience Training program for teachers on October 26, 2024. As Vietnam is experiencing rapid digital growth and concerns over cybersecurity risks among younger audiences are increasing, the project will aim to empower Vietnamese educators with the knowledge and tools to foster a secure digital environment and protect themselves and their students from digital threats.
Kaspersky will also introduce its Cyber Resilience Project for the first time to the Middle East, a region that is currently placing growing emphasis on digital transformation and cyber safety. As part of this initiative, a workshop for parents will be held in Cairo, Egypt, in collaboration with the Information Technology Institute, Knowledge City Branch (Egypt). The workshop will cover topics such as online safety, data protection, fostering a culture of digital security, privacy risks on social media, and misinformation.
Kaspersky also intends to launch a Cyber Resilience project in Russia by the end of the year, continuing the company’s flagship effort, enhancing the next generation’s cyber resilience, by engaging local schools and communities.
As part of the Kaspersky Kids Cyber Resilience Project, the participants will learn to recognize phishing scams, avoid malicious websites, secure their social media accounts, and practice safe gaming and content-sharing habits. Special modules of the program are dedicated to cyberbullying prevention and managing digital privacy.
The online wing of the project also introduces a new global training program titled “How to make AI in education work for the good,” consisting of several knowledge-based and practical sessions. Global AI experts will deliver the training program in collaboration with the Kaspersky Academy. The program was designed for K-12 teachers and parents, and aims to help them learn to navigate AI tools and use them safely to support teaching and learning.
"As cyberthreats evolve, it's critical to equip the younger generation with the skills to navigate the digital world securely. Our expansion of the Kaspersky Kids Cyber Resilience Project in Asia Pacific reflects our commitment to fostering a safer online environment for children and teenagers. Through initiatives like this and the ongoing work of the Kaspersky Academy, we are not only raising awareness but also equipping educators and parents with the tools needed to guide young people in safe digital practices," said Adrian Hia, Managing Director for Asia Pacific at Kaspersky.
