Hon. Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya Opens Second Day of AI Exhibition at Sri Lanka AI Week 2026

The second day of the AI Exhibition, held as part of Sri Lanka AI Week 2026, officially commenced today at Monarch Imperial, with the presence of Hon. Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya, marking another significant milestone in the week-long initiative pioneered by the Ministry of Digital Economy and SLT-MOBITEL.

The occasion was also graced by Hon. Eng. Eranga Weeraratne, Deputy Minister of Digital Economy, Mr. Waruna Sri Dhanapala, Secretary to the Ministry of Digital Economy, Mr. Wei Huaxiang, Ambassador of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Sri Lanka, Dr. Mothilal De Silva, Chairman, SLT Group, Mr. Riyaaz Rasheed, Chief Executive Officer, SLT-MOBITEL, and Mr. Sudharshana Geeganage, Chief Operating Officer, Mobitel, alongside government representatives, industry leaders, technology professionals and other distinguished guests.

During her visit, the Hon. Prime Minister toured the SLT-MOBITEL exhibition stall, which showcases the organisation’s evolution from a national connectivity provider into a technology and digital solutions enabler, while demonstrating its growing focus on AI-led innovation and emerging technologies.

The Prime Minister’s walkthrough continued across several featured exhibition stalls, including the Huawei Remote Learning Education showcase and AI Campus, providing an opportunity to engage with the technologies, solutions and innovators contributing to Sri Lanka’s evolving digital ecosystem.

The visit further underscored the importance of collaboration between government, technology providers, businesses and the wider innovation ecosystem in advancing Sri Lanka’s AI ambitions. It also reflected the shared commitment towards creating an environment where AI can be applied meaningfully across sectors and contribute to the country’s broader digital transformation.
