Harsha Abeywickrama excelled winning both Nett and Gross titles at the Royal Colombo Golf Club’s(RCGC) December Monthly Medal held at the RCGC course in Colombo.
Abeywickrama topped Division A – Handicap 0 to 9 with a superb Nett score of 68 and a Gross score of 73. His dominance in both categories secured him the top spot in the competition. Viran Perera, who finished with a Nett score of 69, was the runner-up in the Nett division.
In Division B, for golfers with a handicap between 10 and 18, Thusith Wijesinghe triumphed in the Nett category with a score of 67, edging out Gayan Galapitage, who also posted a Nett score of 67. The two tied, with Wijesinghe winning on a count-back. In the Gross category, Wijesinghe emerged as the winner with a score of 81.
Dr. Pradeep Edward’s exceptional play in Division C, for golfers with a handicap of 19 to 28, earned him both the Nett and Gross titles. He posted an excellent Nett score of 62, which placed him well ahead of the competition. Adrian Pereira finished as the runner-up in the Nett category with a score of 67. In the Gross division, Dr. Edward’s score of 81 secured his victory.
The Seniors Division saw A. P. Jayarajah claim the Nett title with a score of 68, while Kumar Boralessa won the Gross category with a score of 76. Boralessa was the runner-up in the Nett division with a score of 70, which was decided by a count-back. In the Masters Division, Hiranya Gunasekera’s performance stood out as he clinched the Nett title with a score of 62. Inderjit Fernando, with a Nett score of 64, finished as the runner-up. Bandula Weerasinghe won the Gross category with a score of 72.
In the Juniors Division, Kian Niyarepola secured victory in both the Nett and Gross categories, posting a Nett score of 70 (count-back) and a Gross score of 77. Ayaan Gunasekera, with a Nett score of 70, finished as the runner-up.
The Ladies Silver Division saw Yun Jeong Choi take the Nett title with a score of 69, while Janaki Sugathapala finished as the runner-up with a score of 80. Choi also won the Gross category with a score of 84. In the Ladies Bronze Division, Elsie Padmanadan won both the Nett and Gross titles, with scores of 72 and 93, respectively. Fran De Mel, with a Nett score of 74, was the runner-up in the Nett division.
In the Ladies Seniors Division, H. M. D. Bandaranayake triumphed with a Nett score of 64, while Kathey Twerenbold finished as the runner-up with a score of 71. Bandaranayake also won the Gross category with a score of 94.
