Flash Health has partnered with Union Chemists, one of Sri Lanka’s longest-established pharmacy chains, to introduce a convenient pharmacy pickup service that enables customers to order medicines digitally and collect them from participating Union Chemists outlets, while offering eligible Flash Health Cashless OPD members access to medicines without upfront payments. The collaboration combines Flash Health’s digital healthcare platform with Union Chemists’ extensive pharmacy experience, creating a more efficient and accessible medicine collection process. Customers can place orders through the Flash Health app and select a participating Union Chemists pharmacy for collection, reducing waiting times and simplifying the purchasing experience. For eligible Flash Health Cashless OPD members, the service offers an additional benefit by allowing covered medicines to be collected without upfront payment, subject to available benefits and applicable limits. Eligible expenses are processed directly through the platform, eliminating the need for reimbursement claims.
Founded in 1961, Union Chemists has built a longstanding reputation in Sri Lanka’s pharmaceutical sector through its pharmacy network, prescription services, medical equipment and online services. Flash Health complements these capabilities through its digital healthcare ecosystem, which includes medicine delivery, doctor consultations, laboratory services and employer-funded outpatient healthcare benefits.
Commenting on the partnership, Union Chemists Director of Operations Shalintha Rodrigo said the initiative reflects the company's commitment to improving customer convenience while maintaining professional pharmaceutical care. “Our customers trust us with something deeply personal: their health. A person collecting medicine may already be tired, worried or short on time. If we can prepare the order earlier and make that visit easier, we should,” Rodrigo said. Flash Health Founder Arshad Ameer highlighted the importance of collaboration in delivering more accessible healthcare solutions. “When those strengths come together, the customer gets a better experience. That matters more than protecting old boundaries,” Ameer said. The partnership is also expected to support greater operational efficiency at Union Chemists pharmacies by enabling advance order preparation, reducing counter congestion and allowing pharmacy teams to focus on dispensing accuracy and customer service. By integrating digital ordering, physical pharmacy access and cashless outpatient benefits, Flash Health and Union Chemists aim to deliver a more seamless, patient-centric healthcare experience while demonstrating how collaboration between established healthcare providers and digital platforms can improve access to essential medicines in Sri Lanka.
