Fitch recalibrates Sri Lanka’s national rating scale following sovereign upgrade

Fitch Ratings has recalibrated Sri Lanka’s national rating scale following the country’s sovereign credit rating upgrade from ‘CCC+’ to ‘B-’ with a Stable Outlook on 22 September 2026.

The revision may lead to rating changes for some local banks, financial institutions and companies. Fitch stated that the revised ratings would be announced in due course.

The national rating scale helps investors compare credit risks among issuers within Sri Lanka and is not directly comparable with international rating scales.
