FFSL and Dialog Play join hands to popularise Super League

In another landmark step forward for Sri Lankan football, the Football Federation of Sri Lanka (FFSL) and Dialog Play-a premier digital streaming platform, joined hands on Thursday (15) to make the country’s elite domestic football competition (Super League) more accessible to fans through digital technology.

Under this partnership, all 81 matches of the Super League are to be streamed live on the Dialog Play mobile application, enabling football fans to watch the action in real time and support their favourite teams from anywhere in the country.

Speaking at a press briefing held at Football House, to officially declare the partnership FFSL President Jaswar Umar described the new alliance as a significant milestone in the Federation’s efforts to enhance the value, visibility and popularity of the Super League.

“We are grateful and delighted to partner with Dialog, Sri Lanka’s premier telecommunications giant,” Umar stated.

“This collaboration will no doubt create greater interest among players, clubs and fans, encouraging more people to play, watch and enjoy football through their mobile devices. By making our domestic competition more accessible to a wider audience, we are taking another crucial step towards growing the sport across the nation.”

The FFSL head also highlighted the tremendous progress made by the Sri Lanka national football team and the development of the game as a whole over the past three years, stressing the importance of continued investment, innovation and strategic partnerships in sustaining this momentum.

Dialog Axiata Vice President – Media and Home Pubudu Aluthgedara, stated that the partnership marks the start of a long-term collaboration between the two organisations.

He observed that Dialog Play is equipped to bring thrilling football content directly to the handheld devices of fans, allowing them to follow their preferred teams and remain connected with the game.

The Super League is this country’s premier local football tournament, featuring 10 sides contesting in a round-robin format across the first round and the Super Six round afterwards.

With a total of 81 ties, the competition provides a platform for the nation’s leading local clubs and players to showcase their inherent talent and compete at the highest domestic level.

Through this new partnership, FFSL and Dialog Play aim to expand the reach of the domestic game, strengthen fan engagement, increase the visibility of clubs and players, and create new opportunities for the commercial growth of the sport.
