Eric Suriyasena the founder of Suriya Batik and Goldi Sands hotel Ethukala Negombo was honored for his outstanding contributions for the Hospitality, Travel and Tourism industry at the recently concluded Sri Lanka Tourism Awards 2024 with a Tourism Legends award.
Suriyasena built and opened Goldi Sands Hotel with a modest 35 room structure 50 years ago in Negombo paving the way for the location to be a major tourist hub. Goldi Sands Hotel in 2022 to cater to growing market clientele opened its new 65 room extension, with 60 deluxe luxury rooms and five junior suites investing Rs.900-million. This includes a new swimming pool, a restaurant and a state-of-the-art gym. With the new 65-room extension, the total capacity of the hotel increases to 131 rooms.
Goldi Sands Hotel, one of the oldest hotels in the famous Ethukala beach strip in Negombo has invested Rs 35mln within the last four years to refurbish and upgrade the Suriyasena said that Goldi Sands has been achieving remarkable success winning accolades from guests and is mostly patronized by a repeater clientele due to its superior service standards and the hotel offerings.
